For the latest model year, the Toyota Land Cruiser does not get significant aesthetic or mechanical changes. However, consumers will find a change to the SUV's lineup this year, as a new trim called the Heritage Edition joins the pack. The Land Cruiser ranks near the top among large SUVs for its off-road capabilities, comfortable ride, and clear view out the front window. It has a top towing capacity of 8,000 pounds and three rows of seats as a standard configuration. You'll find some notable trim-specific differences as well, including stylish wheels and greater detail along the trim's exterior. The Land Cruiser can be purchased in one of five paint colors for a distinctive appearance.
This year's Land Cruiser comes in two editions, which are called the Land Cruiser and Heritage Edition. Both have an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base model comes well-equipped with plenty of features. Its long list of amenities includes a premium JBL audio system with nine speakers and a user-friendly touchscreen display with a split-screen for optimal viewing. The base trim has comfortable perforated leather seats that accommodate up to eight occupants.
The Heritage Edition gets some unique exterior accents and a more luxurious interior. Its amenities include 18-inch wheels and a cargo basket on the roof. This trim also has a 14-speaker JBL sound system. Its premium sound system includes integrated navigation with a touchscreen display and a CD player. Leather seats are standard in this trim level, which has a seating capacity for five occupants rather than eight. A tonneau cover is included in the back for your cargo.
Along with these standard features, both trims are available with a variety of add-on amenities, too. You can also upgrade both cabins with heated seats, a higher-grade leather finish for the seats, and a cooler box for your longest adventures.
Both trim levels of the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser come standard with all-wheel-drive. Both have an eight-speed automatic transmission as well. It is a 5.7L with eight cylinders and dual independent variable valve timing. This capable engine produces up to 381 HP at 5,600 RPM and 401 LB-FT of torque at 3,600 RPM. It provides plenty of power for on-road driving, tackling the trails, and towing up to 8,000 pounds when properly equipped. The Land Cruiser features a kinetic dynamic suspension system to provide precise handling while giving occupants a smooth and comfortable ride.
The Land Cruiser certainly excels in off-road performance, but it is also designed to keep you safe. The Land Cruiser comes equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense package of innovative driver-assist aids. This package includes forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and pedestrian alert. On the outside, it offers automatic high beam control. The Land Cruiser is also equipped with 10 advanced seat belts throughout the cabin to protect occupants. Vehicle stability control and traction control are standard as part of the Star Safety System. Both trims have parking assist sensors in front and back as well.
