In a recent move, Toyota has forged a partnership with Cirba Solutions to enhance its battery recycling network. With over 60 years of experience in battery recycling, Cirba Solutions offers services encompassing the collection, transportation, and extraction of crucial elements.
This collaboration between Toyota Motor North America and Cirba Solutions expands the automaker's recycling network to cover Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Cirba Solutions boasts an impressive 95% recovery rate for extracting critical elements. This partnership not only reduces costs for Toyota but also propels it closer to achieving its closed-loop objective for battery recycling. Cirba Solutions recently received a substantial grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, which was utilized to upgrade its facility in Lancaster, Ohio. At this facility, Cirba Solutions will extract battery-grade materials from end-of-life batteries, reintroducing them into the supply chain for future use in Electric Vehicles (EVs).
