What's New for the 2019 Toyota Highlander?

At a time when other SUVs are getting smaller and skimping on amenities, Toyota is doing the opposite. In 2019, the Highlander is bigger than before. There are two seating configurations available to hold either seven or eight passengers. If you opt for the seven-seat configuration, you'll get a second row with two captain's chairs. The eight-seat model has two back rows with three seats each. Either way, the back seats have a split-folding design to maximize cargo space, which is a total of 83.7 cubic feet. Special exterior accents for select trims and a suite of standard safety features complete the Highlander's offerings.

There are a Plethora of Features in the 2019 Highlander

With the addition of two new trim levels to the Highlander family, you have eight trim levels to choose from. The base model seats eight passengers. It has a standard backup camera for reversing with confidence, and it has Toyota safety package as a standard amenity. Information and entertainment come in the form of a premier audio system that pairs with phones.

A total of five USB ports, including three in the front row and two in the second row, keep all your devices charged and ready for use. For the back row, you can get an available nine-inch infotainment display screen with Blu-Ray to keep passengers entertained. Next up, the LE Plus adds tri-zone climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and an advanced audio-infotainment system with subscriptions to HD and satellite radio. This trim also has a backup camera.

A power-operated, hands-free liftgate ensures convenience. The XLE, which is the next highest trim, adds a smart entry and expands the leather seats to the second row. A tilt-slide power moonroof is standard on this trim. Upgrading to the SE, you'll get a more off-road-ready vehicle with a sportier suspension system. This trim level rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with a sleek black finish. On the outside, automatic on/off LED and halogen headlights make it easier to see on the road. Finally, the Limited gets chrome-accented wheels and an infotainment system with navigation. With this model, you have a choice between captain's chairs in the second row or an eight-passenger configuration. The cushioned front seats are both heated and ventilated for four-season driver and passenger comfort.

The second engine, which is standard on the higher-level trims, is a 3.5L, six-cylinder engine that generates a maximum of 295 HP at 6,600 RPM and 263 LB-FT of torque at 4,700 RPM. Toyota Highlander Safety Technologies

2019 Toyota Highlander RearThe 2018 Toyota Highlander received five stars in government crash tests for safety, and the 2019 Highlander looks to follow suit. Throughout the cabin, eight airbags keep occupants protected in the event of a forward, rear, or side collision, and in case the vehicle rolls over.

In the back seats, protective LATCH child seat safety locks keep child seats safely in place. The frame of the Highlander itself, which has front and rear crumple zones, is designed to deflect energy from an impact away from the cabin. Finally, Toyota Safety Sense package with lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a backup camera is designed to keep you safe no matter where you go.
