Why Is My Car Not Starting?

You've got a busy life to live, so you count on your car to be there for you whenever you need it. If your car suddenly won't start, life stops. To help you get going again, we've created this list of the typical reasons a vehicle won't start. Of course, we're here for you whenever you need help getting your car started. Have your vehicle brought to our team of certified technicians.

Ā

1. Dead Battery

Ā

Often, a car can't start because its battery is drained. A battery might die due to someone leaving on the car's headlights or making a similar mistake. Extreme temperatures also cause batteries to discharge. If your car's battery is a few years old, the cell inside may have lost its ability to hold a charge. We have the technology to test a vehicle's battery in our Service Center quickly.

Ā

2. Bad Ignition Switch

Ā

With your key or Start button, you engage your car's ignition switch. If nothing happens, the switch might have failed. This is likelier if you're certain that your battery is charged and your gas tank is not empty. Additionally, listen for clicks from under the vehicle's hood when you engage the ignition. If you hear no clicks, a bad ignition switch may be the reason your car won't start.

Ā

3. Faulty Starter

Ā

You might hear clicks from beneath the hood when you attempt to start your car. If the battery is good, these clicks indicate that your vehicle's starter has probably seen its last day of operation. Fortunately, we expertly replace starters.

Ā

4. Old Fuel Filter

Ā

To keep contaminants out of your engine, fuel passes through a filter first. Since the contaminants collect in the fuel filter, periodic replacement is required. Your vehicle's manual can tell you when the manufacturer recommends the replacement of its fuel filter, and we can expertly perform this service.

Ā

5. Empty Gas Tank

Ā

The reason a car won't start can be that it has no gas. Always know your vehicle's fuel situation, and don't play games when the vehicle warns you that the tank is low. It is more fun to get where you want to go in a timely fashion than to see how far you can go on fumes.

Ā

We can help if it's hard to tell why your car won't start right now. Just have it towed to our Service Center in San Antonio. Our professionals can get your vehicle working again soon.
