Toyota recently debuted the Toyota Battery Center of North America, located at its established Saline, MI, engineering grounds. This 30,000-square-foot testing and evaluation facility is designed to analyze battery cells created at Toyota's North Carolina battery manufacturing hub and regional sites.

In-house engineers will monitor battery health and create breakthrough solutions intended for Toyota hybrid, hydrogen, and battery-electric drivetrains, supporting the company's parallel powertrain vision. The scope extends across raw material inspection through full lifecycle recycling, providing essential local validation capacity.

Academic partners from the University of Michigan Electric Vehicle Center will also utilize the testing space, gaining access to premier diagnostic machinery. The shared arrangement will support specialized training for battery technicians and engineers.

A central ambition for Toyota at the center is to concentrate on innovative battery architecture alongside high-volume cell production. Prioritizing hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies also aligns with resilient market demand for hybrid options.

Overall, the establishment of the Toyota Battery Center of North America proves that Toyota is building toward an electrified future. While models featuring these upcoming battery breakthroughs are still in development, our dealership maintains a fantastic selection of new Toyota vehicles.
