What's New for the 2019 Toyota RAV4?

When Toyota released the RAV4 in the United States originally in 1995, it was a popular option for SUV shoppers who were searching for the perfect combination of sophistication and ruggedness in their new vehicle. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 carries on this tradition, and it has eye-catching updates in comparison to the 2018 model year that may be difficult to resist. When it arrives this winter, it'll show off interior and exterior style changes, new standard convenience features, extra safety features and even a few trim and powertrain updates.

Choosing a stylish and well-equipped compact crossover SUV that meets all of your requirements can be challenging, but the 2019 RAV4 may come close to meeting or perhaps exceeding your expectations. Learn more about its updates below.

2019 RAV4 Impresses with Great Trims

If you compare the 2018 model year against the new 2019 model year, you will notice that new trim options are available. The five current trim levels include the XLE, XSE, XSE Hybrid, Adventure and Limited. You cannot go wrong regardless of the 2019 trim that you opt for, and this is because each trim is equipped thoughtfully.

The lower-level XLE for 2019 has such notable features as Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay in the Entune 3.0 system, access to this system through a seven-inch touchscreen color display, a large sunroof, a wireless hotspot, a QI wireless charging function, powerful speakers to accompany the JBL audio system, five USB ports and several other features. Each advancing trim level introduces additional standard features to the list. In fact, some of the additional standard equipment included in the 2019 RAV4 Limited include an upgraded rearview mirror with camera viewing, leather upholstery and trim throughout the interior, upgraded and larger wheels and a larger touchscreen display screen.

2019 RAV4 Strong Performance

2019 Toyota RAV4As important as it is to find a well-appointed and stylish crossover SUV, you also want your new vehicle to handle flawlessly regardless of the driving conditions. You can choose between a gas-powered or hybrid RAV4 in the 2019 model year, and both deliver impressively on city streets and while off-road. The gas-powered 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine is most common across the trim levels, and it is paired with an automatic eight-speed transmission.

Another option is a hybrid powertrain that comes with a fresh variation of the battery pack and a well-designed continuously variable transmission. Some of the RAV4 vehicles for 2019 are loaded with an enhanced suspension system, which is known as the Multi Terrain Selection. The four-wheel drive drivetrain is standard in the lower 2019 trims, but the Adventure and Limited trims are equipped with all-wheel drive and an advanced torque vectoring function that has a unique rear-drive disconnection specialization.

Toyota RAV4 Safety Regardless of Terrain

2019 Toyota RAV4Regardless of how you plan to use your 2019 RAV4, safety is a top concern. Toyota has pulled out all of the stops when designing this vehicle from a safety perspective, and this is because it includes the Safety Sense 2.0 suite, which is an update from the original Toyota Safety Sense suite. This standard package is loaded into all trims, and it comes with lane departure assistance, lane tracing assistance, dynamic radar cruise control, auto high beams, pedestrian detection, pre-collision safety notification, road sign assistance and several other high-tech features. Remember that this safety suite is added to a long list of more common safety features, including airbags, headrests for all passengers, a theft-deterrent feature and more.
