What's New For the 2019 Toyota 86?

The 86 might be one of the newest cars on the road this year, but it has already proven to be a champion. The 86, despite its short time on the market, has already earned itself a position in the top 10 spots for sports cars. You're probably thinking that's an impressive feat, but once you learn about the 86's amenities, you will understand why. Inside and out, the 86 checks all the boxes for looks, function, power, and prestige. It is also a safe car, as you'd probably expect of any Toyota vehicle, as the company is one of the world's leading brands in that area.

The 86 turns heads from the start with a hand-crafted exterior featuring rounded edges, front and rear spoilers, a distinctive Toyota grille, and small but noticeable accents like an aerodynamic fin and sculpted headlights. On the inside, you don't even have to leave the driveway to feel like you are on the racetrack. The 86 is equipped with a sporty interior complete with genuine bucket race seats, a driver's information display, and custom accents for all three trim levels. A manual transmission is standard to give you a more sports-oriented driving feel.

Toyota 86 is Impressive No Matter Which Trim Level You Choose

In 2019, you have a choice of three models in the 86. The base model is called the 86. If you choose this model, you will get a generous list of amenities inside and out. The car features a chrome-tipped exhaust system for looks and efficiency. The body is reinforced for safety, and the interior gives you a race-ready feel with a sporty suspension system for premium handling and an equally tight and responsive steering wheel that also has the audio controls. The 86 is powered by a four-cylinder engine, and although a manual transmission is standard, you have the option of upgrading to an automatic transmission if you choose instead. The second-highest trim level is called the GT.

The GT has a distinctive look from the outside with a signature spoiler in the rear and a black rear wing. On the inside, you'll get the same racetrack-inspired seat design, but this trim level has leather seats for a more luxurious finish. The driver's information screen also provides current information about the car's performance, but it has a slightly larger size at 4.2 inches. A push-button start and smart key entry system are standard. The highest trim level is called the TRD Pro. You'll get all the same amenities of the previous trim levels along with special Brembo brakes for enhanced stopping power and spoilers along the underbody in addition to the front and rear. This trim level of the 86 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. Completing its custom appearance are tri-color graphics along the side.

If you choose the manual transmission instead, the engine can generate slightly more power at 205 HP. When paired with the manual transmission, the engine generates a maximum of 156 LB-FT of torque.
